Job Summary:
Are you passionate about helping others find hope, healing, and wellness through lived experience? Join our compassionate and collaborative behavioral health team as a Peer Wellness Coach, where your voice, encouragement, and personal journey can truly make a lasting impact. This rewarding position offers the opportunity to mentor individuals on their recovery and wellness journey, promote healthy lifestyle choices, facilitate wellness groups, and empower participants to advocate for their own healthcare needs. We are looking for someone who is compassionate, encouraging, organized, and passionate about mental health recovery, peer support, and whole-person wellness. As a Peer Wellness Coach, you will work directly with participants and their families/caregivers to support improved mental and physical health outcomes through education, advocacy, wellness coaching, and care coordination. You will facilitate evidence-based wellness groups, assist individuals in navigating the healthcare system, and help remove barriers to care while fostering independence, self-management skills, and recovery-focused support. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one peer wellness coaching and recovery support to participants managing mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders
- Facilitate wellness, prevention, and self-management groups using evidence-based and recovery-focused models
- Teach participants and family/caregivers disease management strategies and healthy lifestyle practices to support improved overall wellness
- Encourage and empower participants to advocate for themselves and independently navigate the healthcare system
- Coordinate care by collaborating with healthcare providers, treatment teams, and community resources to reduce barriers to care
- Educate participants on understanding and utilizing personal health information to strengthen self-management skills
- Support transportation needs for participants accessing medical or behavioral health appointments as needed
- Assist with community outreach, public presentations, and wellness education initiatives
- Maintain adherence to the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Code of Ethics and recovery-oriented principles
- Document services and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care Education, Experience, and/or
Credential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Peer Specialist certification required or ability to become certified within one (1) year of hire
- Lived experience with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders required
- Experience providing social, recreational, or peer support activities preferred
- Experience serving individuals with mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders preferred
- Experience in wellness promotion, behavioral health support, recovery coaching, or community mental health services preferred

- Demonstrate a personal commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and promoting wellness
- Possess strong organizational, communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate the ability to motivate, encourage, and support others using strength-based approaches and positive reinforcement
- Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic communication, and internet use
- Value cultural diversity and demonstrate a commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered care
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record if transporting participants Physical Requirements
- Frequently sit for extended periods throughout the workday
- Occasionally stand, bend, kneel, squat, lift, and drive as part of daily responsibilities
- Ability to travel occasionally to participant appointments, community meetings, or outreach activities
- Ability to safely perform light physical activities associated with participant support and wellness coaching

Full timePay Range:
$15.00- $21.
