Ghost Tour Performer / Host - Old Town Walking Tour Overview We are looking for performers to educate and entertain groups ranging from 8 to 30+ guests on a ghost tour in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. This is an intimate audience experience. You are the headliner - a one-person show. You are the STAR. Our production is very theatrical and animated, with many opportunities for vocal inflection, character voices, improvisation, and spontaneous ad-lib moments. If you are a performer, you will likely find this experience intoxicating (honestly, some hosts say they get an "actor's high" from doing the tour). It is a lot of fun seriously. By the time you complete training, you will be a stronger actor and performer. This role uses all your talents: improv, voice work, storytelling, physical performance, and audience engagement. We are also proud to be the locally owned ghost tour. All other tours currently operating there are massive national corporate companies with the exception of Michael Brown who does an investigation event.

https://hauntedsdoldtowntours.com/ About the Tour The Old Town Walking Tour & Paranormal Investigation is a theatrical nighttime experience through San Diego's historic Old Town and Heritage Park. It covers Heritage Park, The Whaley House (outside) and the Graveyard ocassional the Chapel. Hosts lead guests through haunted history, folklore, and reported paranormal activity while also introducing them to ghost hunting equipment such as EMF meters and devining rods. The script is historian verified. The tour blends storytelling, improv, comedy, and immersive audience interaction. Hosts must be comfortable performing outdoors at night, managing group energy, and creating a spooky but fun atmosphere while guiding guests through some of San Diego's most reportedly haunted locations. It runs 90 minutes. You may have double on ocassion.

Pay First-year pay:

$295 Tips depend partly on luck (group size and generosity) and partly on the strength of your performance. After 10 successful tours, contact Brian directly for: $500 sign-on bonus Pay increase to $60 per tour Training is voluntary and unpaid. That said we do give a bonus once you are up and running and with us. More details on a call. A typical tour takes about 2 hours total, including setup. On average, most hosts make $100+ per tour when tips are included. We also encourage tipping strongly during the tour. Hours and Schedule We operate all year long. Summers - we have tours each night and winters on the weekends, Tours general go at 7pm and 9pm with sometimes later ones or earlier ones. Our schedule is meant to be very flexible and we will work with your schedule. The more you are available the more tours you can get. Important Requirements Strong Memorization Skills Only apply if you have a powerful memory. This a one person show with a script of about 17 pages and designed for real performers or those becoming performers. If you mainly work in short-form video or reels, this may be challenging. If you are a true actor or host, you will likely enjoy mastering it. Bringing life to a script. Enjoying ghost hunting or at least being open to it. Location You should live within about 20-30 minutes of Old Town San Diego. We do not have an office there and you meet your group there. Commitment Please do not apply if you do not plan to stay in San Diego for at least two years. Training Expectations There is no instant gratification with this job - training takes a minute Training typically takes around one months to: Memorize the script Learn the performance Complete the training process Be ready to run your own tours Once you finish training and are scheduled, you will begin receiving pay and tips. We have seen people train quicker. About the Job This role is part-time supplemental income. It is not designed to pay rent or a mortgage. This is not full time. Think of it as your fun job. Most hosts say it becomes one of the most enjoyable jobs they've ever had, and you often earn more in 90 minutes than many traditional jobs. We are very collaborative and supportive of our hosts.
