This role is an important part of creating a welcoming, magical experience for families while also serving as a key attraction for community engagement and event promotion. Events Covered Christmas on Main Street - December 5 Story Time with Santa - Tentatively December 15 While compensation is issued per event, the City prefers to contract one Santa to serve both events as a seasonal role. Responsibilities Arrive prior to the scheduled start time to prepare and coordinate with event staff. Remain fully in costume for the duration of the contracted event period . Interact warmly and professionally with children, families, and community members. Pose for photos with attendees during Christmas on Main Street. Participate in the Christmas tree lighting ceremony alongside a City representative. Attend Story Time with Santa , engage with attendees during the program, and remain afterward for photos. Maintain a positive, welcoming, and inclusive demeanor throughout the event. Participate in a pre-event walkthrough meeting with the photographer, sound technician, and event staff. Provide your own Santa Claus costume and accessories . The City reserves the right to review and approve the costume for quality and appropriateness prior to the first event. Conduct Expectations Santa represents the City of Goddard and must: Maintain professional and family-friendly behavior at all times. Avoid political commentary or controversial topics. Refrain from smoking, alcohol consumption, or inappropriate language during events. Follow all City social media and public conduct guidelines. Safety Protocol Santa must never be alone with children . City staff or event supervisors will always be present. Santa shall not initiate unsolicited physical contact with children. Physical interaction, such as sitting on Santa's lap, shall occur only with the consent and in the presence of a parent or guardian. Qualifications Prior experience portraying Santa at community or professional events preferred. Ability to interact comfortably with children and large audiences. Must provide two professional references from organizations that have previously hired the applicant for similar roles.
