SYNOPSIS
The Last Five Years tells the bittersweet tale of a brief marriage between two young artists.
The storytelling is non-linear:
Cathy, a struggling actor, starts her tale at the end of the marriage, working backwards through the timeline. Jamie, a literary prodigy, begins his at the onset of the relationship. The two narratives intersect on their wedding day before diverging again to arrive at the beginning, and end, of their five years together.
SEEKING:
Cathy - Female identifying, any ethnicity. Age range; late 20s to early 30s. Cathy's character moves backward through time—from a woman grappling with betrayal and divorce to an ambitious young woman beginning a new relationship.
Vocal range:
Alto to mezzosoprano with the ability to belt (F3-Eb5). Jamie - Male identifying, any ethnicity. Age range; 20s to early 30s. Jamie's character moves forward in time—from an eager young man at the start of a promising relationship to someone blinded by success and ego. He is charming but makes decisions that ultimately undermine his happiness.
Vocal range:
Tenor (A2-Ab4). SALARY Independent Theatre Contract $510 weekly minimum UNION AEA
