A BIT ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Lindsey and I'm thrilled I get to bring joy and passion for dance into the lives of our dancers every day. I joined the JoD family in September of 2005 and became the owner and director in 2011. I've known I wanted to teach dance since my Sophomore year of high school when I was an apprentice at my studio. I loved seeing the joy and excitement on my dancers faces each week when they came to class and knew I wanted to help bring that same joy to my own students one day. I'm committed to providing a warm, welcoming environment for my students, parents and staff. Joy of Dance truly is like a second home to many of our dancers and I hope you will feel the same if you join our team!

The Role - Teacher

THE DAY TO DAY WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING EXACTLY

Teachers are expected to be fully prepared for class and to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of each class. Teachers should be familiar with our mission and committed to sharing that vision. Retention is an important role of our Teachers in making sure classes remain FULL and dancers return year after year. At times you may be asked to email families as part of your role in retaining our students. You also need to maintain open communication with your students and their families to address any issues that may come up throughout the year. Communication is a priority of ours and we have promised our clients that no call or email will go unanswered - and this applies to our faculty as well. To keep communication clear and open, please ensure you check and answer your emails, messages and phone calls from us. If clients address any questions or concerns to you that you are unable to answer straight away, please bring them to the Director or Studio Manager immediately. As teacher, you will be expected to observe 2 classes per year with another teacher in a class with similar age/style that you teach. Teachers are expected to attend monthly staff meetings, either in person or through video conferences

… You aren't interested in investing time and energy to being a part of a fantastic team. Our teachers often talk to parents, get to know the kids and work with other teachers. Are looking for a position to fill while you are going on auditions. We need our teachers to be committed to their classes and their students for the best possible learning environment. Won't sign a nondisclosure and employee agreement. Teachers are only able to work at other studios outside of a certain radius of our studio due to a conflict of interest.
