About Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy:
Sears Studio Performing Arts Academy, known for its commitment to excellence in the performing arts, invites an experienced and passionate Music Director to lead our summer camp through Descendants the Musical.
Position Overview:
The Music Director will play a key role in our summer musical theater camp, responsible for guiding students through the musical intricacies of our show. This position requires a blend of musical expertise, education experience, and the ability to inspire young performers. Over the 3 weeks, the Music Director will help with auditions, lead music rehearsals, and ensure that both productions resonate with audiences and performers alike by assisting in other duties for the show.
Key Responsibilities:
Musical Preparation:
Prior to camp, thoroughly learn the scores of " Descendants the Musical "
Audition Process:
Observe auditions, evaluating vocal and musical skills to help ensure optimal casting for both productions.
Rehearsal Leadership:
Lead efficient and productive music rehearsals, focusing on vocal performance, harmonies, and ensemble work, accompanied by piano.
Vocal Development:
Implement daily vocal warm-ups and exercises to build technique, stamina, and confidence among performers.
Educational Materials:
Prepare and distribute practice recordings for at-home study, reinforcing the learning process.
Performance Readiness:
Ensure all musical aspects of the productions are polished and performance-ready, reflecting high artistic standards.
Camp Collaboration:
Participate in camp activities beyond music, contributing to a supportive, enriching camp environment.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience as a Music Director, particularly within youth or educational theater settings. Proficiency in piano, with the ability to accompany rehearsals and performances. In-depth knowledge of vocal technique and the ability to teach music to a variety of skill levels. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. A passion for musical theater and a commitment to inspiring young performers.
Compensation:
A competitive stipend will be provided for the hours worked throughout the five-week program. Specifics will be discussed during the hiring process.
