Music Director

at Sunflower UA Day Care inc in Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, United States Job Description Design and deliver a developmentally appropriate preschool music curriculum by applying recognized early-childhood music teaching methods, lead group and individual instruction, adapt instruction to varied learning styles, plan performances, and collaborate with program staff and families to support children's musical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Specific duties include developing age-appropriate music programs and lesson plans supporting children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development; leading daily or weekly music classes including singing, rhythm exercises, movement, and playing simple instruments; applying and adapting recognized early childhood music education methods to meet individual learning styles; fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence through musical activities; supporting development of listening skills, memory, coordination, and early language through songs, rhythm, and movement; evaluating children's participation and progress and adjusting teaching methods as needed; preparing children for seasonal concerts, cultural programs, and parent presentations; coordinating with teachers to integrate music into school wide events; working closely with classroom teachers to connect music with literacy, numeracy, movement, and other learning domains; sharing teaching resources and strategies that use music as part of the daily classroom routine; selecting, organizing, and caring for instruments, recordings, and teaching materials; ensuring a safe, well maintained, and engaging musical environment; staying current with early childhood music education methodologies and instructional techniques; and communicating with parents about children's progress, participation, and upcoming events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

: Associate's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Music, Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field. and Two (2) years of experience in job offered or a related occupation, including two (2) years of experience adapting musical instruction to different learning styles in a preschool or early-childhood environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Must have skill/expertise in the following: Knowledge of at least one recognized early-childhood music education methodology (e.g., rhythm-based, movement-based, or sequential learning approaches). Evaluate and select appropriate teaching techniques based on lesson goals and child Lead group singing and play simple classroom instruments (keyboard, guitar/ukulele, or percussion). Classroom management and positive preschooler behavior-guidance skills.
