Parish Road, Lawrence, MA 01843 Groton Hill Music Center is the region's premier nonprofit center for outstanding music education, professional performances, andmunity engagement programs. Our Music School offers lessons in 30+ instruments and voices for all ages in all musical styles with a faculty of 90+ professional teaching artists. This role involves leading the Middle School Summer Band Program at Lawrence High School as part of our Community Engagement programming. The Band Director will oversee large ensemble rehearsals, coordinate with instrumental faculty, and foster a positive, high-energy musical environment for middle school students.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Conducting daily concert band rehearsals, selecting appropriate repertoire, and preparing students for the final performance on August 21st. Delivering engaging, high-quality instruction that challenges students' technical skills and musicality while adapting to a wide range of developmental levels. Collaborating with instrumental specialists (brass, woodwind, percussion) to align sectional goals with full ensemble objectives. Providing updates on student progress, managing classroom behavior effectively, and working closely with the Community Engagement and Summer Programs Manager to ensure program success. Inspiring a love of music, setting high standards for performance, and maintaining clearmunication regarding expectations and goals. Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates should have a degree in music and a minimum of three years of experience directing bands, specifically at the middle or high school level. Exceptional conducting technique, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to motivate young musicians in a condensed summer format.
