Christ United Methodist Church is located in Lansdale, a suburb of Philadelphia with a multigenerational congregation of 400 plus members. Average attendance is 175 weekly with online offerings. We have active children's and youth programs that provide ample opportunities for community participation. We actively support local organizations and the work of our denomination at the global, conference, and local levels. The church is financially sound. We emphasize education, small groups, and mission outreach. We have a self-sufficient, active preschool and we continue to grow our impact in the community. The Music Ministry is a significant element of worship and enjoys large participation with many choral, bell, and children's and youth music choirs.

Utilize music to bring all ages into encounters with Jesus Christ, grow them as Christ's disciples, and equip them to serve others in Christ's name.
Reports to:
Senior Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee Requirements:
22 years of age or older and professing a faith in Jesus Christ Appropriate educational background and/or life experience with focus on choral music and understanding of diverse, sacred, Christian music styles Leadership skills that enable a large group of diverse, volunteer participants with varying musical abilities Administrative skills that require managing a complex music library and ability to supervise worship needs and programs Successful completion of safe sanctuary training and child abuse clearances (state criminal background, child line, and FBI).
Hours:
20 hours/week
Salary:
$24,000 to $28,000 based on experience
Responsibilities:
Administer and coordinate the entire music program to maintain and encourage the integrity of our United Methodist traditions in music and singing and while supporting the work and ministry of Christ United Methodist Church Participate in worship planning with the pastors, organist, and others, as needed Plan choir/special music for two Sunday morning services each week and other special services and events, September through June Schedule special guest musicians for all summer worship services, July through Labor Day for both services Assist SPRC in the hiring of other paid music staff, including the organist, instrumental players, part-time choir directors, and other musicians as needed Oversee and evaluate the performance and goals of the paid music staff Provide training, assistance, and support for music leaders Assist recruiting efforts for all choirs including encouraging children and youth to participate Work toward leading each group involved in the music program to become a caring, nurturing community, within the larger congregation Find suitable substitutes when music staff members are absent and fill in for any musical position as needed or required Attend staff and Church Council meetings, and communicate appropriate information in a timely fashion to the music staff Prepare budget for music purchases, supplemental musicians, instrumental maintenance, and miscellaneous expenses each August, in consultation with the Music Committee Oversee robe, instrumental, and equipment maintenance Serve as resource person for groups needing musical assistance Maintain an ongoing program of professional development, to include attendance at church music workshops, college classes, or private musical study Maintain an ongoing program of personal spiritual development Encourage and enable ensembles to perform in the community Perform other duties as assigned.
