The Assistant Director of the Seawolf Pep Band is a part-time temporary position (approximately 5 hours per week) that aids in creating the spirited atmosphere of University of Alaska Anchorage athletic events. The Seawolf Pep Band performs at select men's and women's basketball, volleyball, hockey games, and gymnastics meets. The Assistant Director will play a key role in fostering a weing and inclusive environment for student musicians, ensuring that all members feel valued and supported in their musical and personal growth.
To thrive in this role, the candidate must attend, direct, and facilitate Seawolf Pep Band performances and appearances as shared or distributed between the Director. Attend and rehearse the Seawolf Pep Band at weekly scheduled rehearsals during the academic school year (Tuesdays, 5-7 pm). Collaborate with Athletics and Marketing on performance logistics. Coordinate transportation, setup, and other logistical needs for performances. Promote the Seawolf Pep Band through campus engagement and marketing initiatives. Foster a sense ofmunity and school spirit among student musicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field required. Experience leading a band or similar ensemble, preferably at the collegiate, high school, or middle school level. Strong musical leadership skills. Excellentmunication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work evenings and weekends.Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a temporary, part-time (approximately 5 hours per week), non-exempt staff position.
