Brunch Church Music Director Good Samaritan Church - 4.1 Saint Petersburg, FL Job Details Part-time From $16,000 a year 8 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Parental leave Professional development assistance Flexible schedule Qualifications Vocal music Computer operation Teamwork Vocal ensemble conducting Teaching music Computer literacy Piano Bachelor's degree Computer skills Community relationship building Leadership Teaching Music tutoring Full Job Description Who We Are We are Good Samaritan Church — a progressive, open and affirming congregation of both the United Church of Christ and Presbyterian Church (USA). We are currently entering an exciting new season as we relocate into a cafe space and reimagine worship around a more intimate, participatory, community-centered "brunch church" model. We believe worship should feel less like a performance people watch and more like a shared experience people create together. We are looking for a musician and community-builder who can help cultivate that kind of space through song. What does following Jesus mean to us? Building beloved community. Loving our neighbors. Embracing and celebrating diversity. Practicing anti-racism. Offering extravagant hospitality. Advocating for the vulnerable. Feeding the hungry. Sharing meals. Risking ourselves for the sake of another. Leaning into hope. Savoring life together. If that sounds like the kind of community you want to help nurture, you may be a wonderful fit with us. To learn more about us, visit: www.discovergoodsam.org Position Overview We are seeking a Music Director / Community Song Leader who can help create meaningful, participatory worship experiences centered around connection, authenticity, and community.
The ideal candidate is:
A skilled pianist and singer Comfortable teaching music by ear Able to lead communal singing in a warm, invitational way Interested in simple, accessible arrangements that encourage participation Collaborative, creative, and relational Passionate about music as ministry rather than performance As we transition into a more intimate, meal-based "brunch church" model, we are especially interested in forms of music leadership that foster participation, connection, and community rather than performance. We are particularly drawn to the paperless communal singing practices developed by Music That Makes Community and believe this style may be especially well-suited to our evolving worship life.
