Job Description
The Next Generation Ministry Choir Director will provide musical leadership and coordination for children and youth choir ministry opportunities at Culpeper United Methodist Church. Services include planning rehearsals, preparing music for worship participation, supporting seasonal performances, and encouraging participation through music and worship leadership. Expected Services
- Coordinate and lead rehearsals for multiple age groups (preschool through high school) during active ministry seasons (Leading up to Christmas, Lent, VBS).
- Select age-appropriate music that aligns with worship themes and the church calendar.
- Prepare children and youth to participate in worship services and special events, including Christmas and Palm Sunday.
- Create a welcoming and encouraging environment for participants.
- Coordinate communication with families regarding schedules, expectations, and opportunities.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Next Generation Ministry and church staff to support ministry goals.
- Encourage spiritual growth and participation through music ministry.
- Support Vacation Bible School (VBS) music programming during the summer season. Additional Ministry Support
- Coordinate rehearsal schedules and performance dates in collaboration with church programming.
- Assist with VBS music leadership.
- Participate in occasional planning meetings related to Next Generation Ministry.
- Additional mutually agreed-upon ministry support related to choir programming may be requested periodically. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children and youth in a musical setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read music and teach foundational music skills to children and youth.
- Basic piano accompaniment skills are preferred, but not required. Contract Information
