REQUIREMENTS:
A.Education Level:
Bachelor's Degree B.Experience Desired:
Degree in theater or coursework in theater. Experience in high school, college, community and/or professional theater. C.Physical Requirements:
This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye and hearing; intermittent repetitive motions with the wrists, hands and fingers, sitting, walking and keyboarding. The position requires frequent lifting, bending, stopping and pulling. D.Other Requirements:
Willingness to commit large amounts of time to produce a play. (Average is approximately 18 hours per week for 5-6 weeks.) Possession of extensive background in dramatic literature. Must be knowledgeable of current trends in theater.REPORTS TO

Principal, Activities CoordinatorESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Chooses the play for production - reading a number of plays before making a choice. Advertises auditions. Selects the scenes for auditions. Conducts auditions. Prepares audition forms. Casts the show, discussing the with activities director, if necessary, the rationale for casting choices. Prepares the rehearsal schedule. Coordinates the technical aspects of the show (set, lights, sound, costumes, make-up, etc.) Reads through the show with the cast. Communicates interpretation of the show with the actors and technical people. Develops characters with the actors. Conducts rehearsals. Approves each aspect of the technical development of the show. Approves all aspects of publicity design - posters, tickets, programs, T-shirts, etc. Conducts warm-ups prior to rehearsals and performances. Meets with and communicates with activities director on all items of travel, budget, standards, calendar, and schedules. Performs other duties as assigned by principal.WORKING CONDITIONS
A. Inside B. Climatic Environment - Some district classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity. C. Hazards - Prepares actors to work safely in a stage environment, e.g. break away props, falls, etc. D.Work year:
Extra duty pay positions are for a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Duties of the position may be performed any time during that time period depending upon the position/season.Position Type:
