This position supports this mission by supporting the Golden Triangle Congregation and helping create a healthy, engaged, excellent musical environment by leading members of the Belmont music community in music that reflects a view of God as all-loving and a view of each person as beloved. The GTF community has many refugees from Burma and their families, many of whom have lived in Nashville for the past 20 years. This position will support the worship life of the GTF community by rehearsing with and accompanying the GTF choir on guitar in rehearsals and worship.

Hours:

3-5 hours per week. Currently rehearsal Sat at 11am and Sunday 10-11:30am and prep time. We are exploring a Sunday morning rehearsal

Duties:

Help lead rehearsals for Golden Triangle Fellowship choir Accompany GFT Choir on Guitar Work with GTF leaders to select praise songs in Karen and English Develop relationships with GTF Leaders to learn GTF worship catalog Help build bridges between GTF choir and karen music with Belmont UMC Music ministeries The ideal candidate would have Experience leading praise or congregation music in a church setting Experience leading worship with Guitar skills Desire to lead ministry in a cross cultural worship environment Desire to learn about Karen Culture and refugee assimilation Background in the Christian faith, with an understanding and respect for United Methodist theology and tradition and a readiness to support Belmont's mission statement and values in the workplace Successful background check ability to speak Karen (but not necessary) Anti-discrimination and anti-harrassment policy: Belmont United Methodist Church strives to provide a work environment that is free from discrimination and unlawful harassment.
