Job Description
•GRANBURY ISD requires three references from former employers, college professors, supervisors, etc. with at least a minimum of two references being from previous supervisors. Granbury ISD will not accept references from friends or family members.•
CONTRACT DAYS
: 187 DaysPRIMARY PURPOSE
Direct and manage the overall program of instrumental music for the school. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operations of an instrumental music program Ability to manage budget and personnel Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing band CDL licenseExperience:
Three years teaching and band directing experienceMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instruction 1. Teach instrument classes Program Management 2. Direct instrumental performers, including marching band, orchestra, concert band, soloist and ensembles. 3. Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements and verify student's eligibility to participate in band 4. Provide for band participation at extracurricular events including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades and UIL activities. 5. Arrange transportation, lodging and meals for out-of-town events. 6. Implement the policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules and board policy in the area of band and instruction. 7. Support band booster club activities 8. Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to examine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs. Student Management 9. Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook 10. Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trips. Communication 11. Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers 12. Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way. Administration 13. Ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are well managed. 14. Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs. 15. Recommend policies to improve the program. 16. Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within the department. 17. Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing and storing all band equipment. Personnel Management 18. Assist with the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and evaluation of assistant band directors. Professional 19. Exemplify high standards of eithical conduct as described in board policy. 20. Observe professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Professional Educator Code of Ethics. 21. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously. 22. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the principal. 23. Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy and data; coordinate district functions and maintain emotional control under stress.Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district and occasional statewide travel, frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoors and indoors work; exposure to sun, heat, cold and inclement weather.
