Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Director of Traditional Music to curate and execute all musical offerings of our traditional music program. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the role music plays in worship. This role requires conducting experience and passion about what creative traditional worship can be. Duties Curate traditional worship music both for Sunday worship and special seasons. Know and use a variety of music styles. Coordinate music selections with appropriate worship themes and scriptures. Oversee music budget, music staff, and all aspects of traditional worship music organization. Lead adult choir rehearsals; direct ensembles and individual performances to achieve artistic excellence. Cultivate and regularly use small groups and soloists, both instrumental and vocal, in traditional worship. Use Planning Center Online as the primary management tool for the Music Ministry. Cultivate community and relationships. Identify, recruit, equip, and motivate musicians. Organize and oversee music events, including concerts. Attend weekly staff meetings. Also participate in seasonal long-range planning. Collaborate with the Director of Worship and Clergy in planning. Requirements Proven experience in the church setting. An advanced degree in music is highly desirable. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on fostering teamwork and collaboration. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work with volunteers with varying levels of musical experience. Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments is preferred.
