The role requires strong musicality, the ability to "lock in" with the drummer's kick pattern, and a heart for serving the congregation.
Core Responsibilities Musical Foundation:
Establish a solid, steady rhythm section that complements the drummer and holds the song together.
Rehearsal & Service Attendance:
Attend all musicians' rehearsals, soundchecks, and Sunday services as scheduled.
Adaptability:
Navigate varying tempos, dynamic changes, and key signatures under the direction of the Worship Leader.
Song Mastery:
Learn setlists ahead of time, often matching the original recorded arrangements, while maintaining the ability to transition smoothly or improvise as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements Proficiency:
High level of competence on a 4- or 5-string bass guitar, with a solid grasp of music theory, major/minor scales, and chord progressions.
Rhythmic Awareness:
The ability to listen closely, sync precisely with the kick drum, and keep the band grounded.
Spiritual/Cultural Fit:
A cooperative, humble attitude focused on leading others in worship rather than overplaying.
Availability:
Consistent weekend availability, as well as availability for special holiday services (e.g., Easter, Christmas, MLK Day, New Year's Eve) and occasional funerals. This position requires the candidate to complete a background check.
Pay:
$17,500.00 - $18,500.00 per year
