Job Description

The Tech Director at Atlantic UCC is responsible for overseeing the Audio/Visual ministry of the church. Our church has a vibrant AV Ministry that uses a hearing loop in the sanctuary, livestreams the worship service, produces a radio show for KSOM and is televised on MediaCom channel 18 twice/week. The Tech Director shall work with the volunteer team to ensure worship service runs smoothly, work out any issues before and/ or after the service, make recommendations to solve problems, and help in the production of our weekly radio show. Some previous knowledge of a digital sound board is preferred, but not required; we are happy to teach our system. They should also have good knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, as it is the program we use in worship. The Tech Director is expected to work 5-8 hours per week, with about 3 of those hours on Sunday morning. The other hours will be filled as they fit into their own schedule. There are also occasional times where we have a mid-week worship service; this would be accounted for in the 5-8 hours. The Tech Director may be offered extra hours to work at a funeral at the church. This is paid by the funeral home at $100 per service. Generally, this is about a 2-3-hour commitment but varies based on the service. There is also a possibility of extra hours for weddings, and compensation will mirror the needs of the service. Compensation for this position is $18/ hr. No other benefits are offered. The position reports to the Worship Elder/ Pastor first, and the Council President next.
Weekly Duties:
  • Check the worship and announcement PowerPoints for accuracy and that all the videos work.
  • Set up and check microphones, TVs, etc.
  • Check with Pastor for special instructions
  • Run the AV ministry during worship, with volunteer assistance
  • Work with volunteers to produce the radio show As needed duties:
  • Work with volunteers to find solutions to problems encountered in the system. Examples may include, static on the livestream/ recording or a mic not working.
  • Research and make recommendations for upgrades to the AV system.
  • Create the worship and announcement presentation in the absence of the church administrative assistant.
