JOB TITLE
Piano Accompanist
JOB BRIEF
The Piano Accompanist supports the Vocal Director in all aspects of the vocal music program, including rehearsals, performances, student development, and program operations. This role requires a skilled and dependable accompanist who collaborates closely with vocalists and ensembles, providing consistent musical support for performances. This is an hourly position but it also includes the opportunity to serve as Assistant Vocal Director outside of the regular school day during concerts and performances. This supplemental assignment is compensated with a stipend of $2,160.
LOCATION
Manhattan High School.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience accompanying vocalists, choirs, or ensembles preferred High School Diploma/GED. All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.
SALARY:
$16.00/hour.
HOURS PER DAY
Schedule varies based on class needs and availability. Average of 5 hours per day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is employed during the school year, from August to May. Availability required for daily rehearsals and concerts (including some evenings). New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin, and leave can be used.
REPORTS TO
Head Vocal Director/Principal.
JOB REPONSIBILITIES
Provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals, classes, auditions, and performances. Collaborate with performers to interpret musical pieces effectively. Sight-read music with a high degree of accuracy. Adjust tempo, dynamics, and style to match performers' needs. Practice and prepare assigned music in advance. Communicate effectively with directors, instructors, and performers. Other duties as assigned.

EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
