Description:
musiConnects seeks to wee a new part-time Resident Musician/Teaching Artist (cello) to its tight-knit team of dedicated educators and performers. The Resident Musician's primary responsibility will be to teach 1:1 private lessons, lead small group classes, and coach chamber music in an affordable, accessible education program engaging students throughout Roslindale, Mattapan, Dorchester, and surrounding neighborhoods of Boston. The Resident Musician will perform on musiConnects'munity-focused concert series, lead introductory group classes for our school partners, and participate in regular staff meetings, assessments, trainings, recitals, and othermunity events.

10-20 hours per week, based on availability & interest
Responsibilities:
Teaching Teach 1:1 private lessons to students of all ages in mC education programming (weekday afternoons/evenings and/or weekend mornings: at musiConnects' studio in Roslindale Village and partner sites throughout Mattapan and Roslindale) Lead small group classes/coach chamber music ensembles, as assigned (at mC's Roslindale studio, and at partner sites) Teach group classes in school settings, as assigned (weekdays during or after school hours, at mC's partner site in Mattapan) Performance Collaborate with other Resident Musicians, as assigned, in design and delivery ofmunity-focused concert series (4-6 concerts, and 3-5 rehearsals per concert) Administrative Participate in monthly staff meetings Participate in student assessments Staff program activities including student recitals, All-Play concerts, annual Performathon festival, and workshops Other administrative roles with consideration for skills and interest
Compensation Teaching:
Starting at $70 per hour teaching plus an administrative/performance stipend, which collectively exceeds $27,000 annually.
Performance, Administration, Student Recitals:
An annual stipend is paid biweekly and covers 3-5 student recitals, Performathon, 5 faculty recitals and rehearsals, staff meetings, trainings and other administrative duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications:
Essential Bachelor's degree in Music Performance or equivalent Passion for string pedagogy and demonstrated success teaching cello to students of varying ages, backgrounds, and aspirations Professional-level proficiency on cello;fort rehearsing and performing in a chamber music setting Dedication to social justice and racial equity Strong critical-thinking skills and a reflective, holistic approach to teaching and performance activities Comfortmunicating with a diverse range of constituencies (staff, students/participants, audience members, institutional partners, et al.) Must be authorized to work in the U.S. - musiConnects is unable to sponsor an employment visa at this time Preferred Master's degree in Music Performance or equivalent Teacher training in relevant methodologies (Suzuki, Rolland, Zweig, Kodaly, et al.)
