Full Job Description Overview:

The Assistant Director / Accompanist supports the musical and rehearsal work of the choir by accompanying rehearsals and performances and assisting the Music Director as needed. This role helps provide musical continuity, supports auditions and rehearsal preparation, and steps in to lead or assist when additional musical support is helpful. The Assistant Director / Accompanist also serves as a bridge between musical leadership and singers, helping ensure rehearsals feel well-supported and musically grounded.

Duties:

Plays piano for rehearsals (Sundays from 2-4 PM), auditions, and performances (4 concerts per year) Provides musical continuity Acts as bridge between singers and leadership Supports concert preparation

Qualifications:

At least two years of experience as a collaborative pianist/accompanist. Is an excellent and encouraging team player. High level of professionalism and proficiency in many musical genres Personal alignment with

Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field preferred, but not required Choral conducting skills preferred, but not required Note about compensation: Pride Choir is a seasonal musical group that operates 32 weeks per year and includes 4 guaranteed performances. Compensation is approximately $40 per hour. Rehearsals are held on Sundays from 2-4 PM in Montclair, NJ. Pride Choir is also frequently invited to perform at community events, with additional compensation offered for those appearances.
