1 Soprano Section Leader/Soloist and 1 Alto Section Leader/ Soloist available Job Summary Provides vocal leadership within the choir, as a soloist and leader for one of the four choral sections.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates excellent singing and music sight-reading skills. Attends all choir rehearsals (7:00pm - 10:00pm) and Sunday Services (9:00am - 12:00pm), September through June, and any other special services that are part of the Church year, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Music Director. Sings solo and small group pieces, as appropriate, in Sunday services and other occasions. Learns choral music ahead of rehearsals in preparation for leading their section efficiently and professionally. Is aware of their section's performance and arranges for sectional rehearsals with the Music Director when appropriate; is aware of singers' problems, helping to solve them and seeking further assistance from the Music Director when necessary. Promotes the mission of the choir and always strives for excellence in the music programs. Works cooperatively with other staff, volunteers and congregants to achieve excellence in all of the UUCB programs.
Other Responsibilities:
Attends monthly Music Staff meetings. May provide music for rites of passage such as weddings and funerals for additional compensation. This position requires work on evenings and Sundays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent study in Music Performance from an accredited college or university (preferably in choral music) strongly recommended.
Physical Requirements:
The ability to move freely to access the choir loft.
