Located in Akron, Ohio, our congregation is filled with people of all ages, including a growing community of young families. We are passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere where people can encounter God, grow in community, and live out their faith. We don't just want a worship leader for hire; we are looking for a minister and a partner. The right candidate will desire to become an active member of our church family, fully investing in what God is building through us. Role Overview As the Worship Leader, you will shape the musical and spiritual atmosphere of our weekend services. Our worship style is modern and contemporary, and we highly value dynamic range—crafting services that balance high-energy praise with intimate, low-key acoustic worship. This is a part-time position requiring approximately 10 hours per week, encompassing Sunday execution, mid-week preparation, and team leadership.
Primary Responsibilities Sunday Leadership:
Lead the congregation in authentic, engaging, and musically excellent worship during weekend services.
Team Development:
Audition, recruit, schedule, and cultivate volunteer musicians, vocalists, and sound techs.
Rehearsals:
Lead mid-week rehearsals (as applicable) to ensure the team is prepared both musically and spiritually.
Collaboration & Planning:
Partner creatively with the Lead Pastor for service planning and collaborate closely with our tech/audio team to ensure a cohesive production.
Shepherding:
Offer support, encouragement, and—when necessary—loving correction to team members, fostering a healthy, collaborative community culture.
Requirements & Qualifications Spiritual & Character Alignment:
An evident love for Jesus, a firm grasp of the biblical role of worship, and a lifestyle that is "above reproach." Alignment with our core theological beliefs is required.
Musical Skill:
Strong vocal ability and the proficiency to lead dynamically from the guitar, keys, or other instrument. A basic understanding of other band instruments is highly valued.
Leadership Experience:
A proven track record of leading a band or worship team, building healthy volunteer teams, and demonstrating faithful commitment to a local church.
Collaborative Spirit:
A relational approach to leadership that thrives on teamwork and constructive collaboration. Bonus Points (Preferred Tech Skills) Familiarity with Planning Center Online for scheduling and service flow. Experience utilizing Multitracks in a live worship environment. Basic working knowledge of digital sound boards and audio production.
Pay:
$100.00 per week
Benefits:
