SUMMARY :
The position of Drama Director selects, prepares and presents a high school drama production
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: This list is intended to be illustrative rather than complete and serves to show major duties and responsibilities and does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent in this position. The employee will be required to perform any other position-related duties requested by the Principal. 1. Select a play and order all materials necessary for the production. 2. Publicize and hold auditions. 3. Select the cast and members of supporting groups. 4. Direct the cast in the production and performance of the play. 5. Secure appropriate props. 6. Provide direction in the construction of a set 7. Consult with the sound and light advisor in choosing lighting techniques and special effects. 8. Secure appropriate costumes. 9. Arrange for the printing of tickets and programs. 10. Secure necessary and appropriate makeup. 11. Publicize the play to the school and to the community. 12. Supervise cast members in the building during rehearsals and performances. 13. Be responsible for all financial aspects of the production. 14. Instruct members of supporting groups in their specific areas.
