Job Description

Position Overview The mission of the University of Kansas School of Business is to advance and impart business knowledge while preparing students to be leaders who positively contribute to business and society. The Catalyst (a program of the KU School of Business Management and Entrepreneurship Area) is an opportunity designed for students who have their own venture or are seeking to start a new venture and desire mentoring and other support. There are three stages of The Catalyst program. This job posting is for students interested in applying for Stage 2 or Stage 3 of The Catalyst. Applicants offered a position will attend cohort meetings, mentor Stage 1 participants, and at the highest level will lead the cohort meetings. As time permits, Stage 2 or 3 students may work on their own venture/venture idea. Participants in The Catalyst can expect their networks to expand given the nature of the relationships they will be expected to build with students, mentors, and other partners. Throughout their employment, student employees will maintain and manifest positive actions that align with and support the Code of Conduct for the School of Business.   • Mentor Stage 1 Catalyst students by sharing knowledge and experience gained from cohort topics and hands-on experience gained while working on own venture (led by Stage 2 or 3). 30%
  • Attend and participate in leadership/mentor development. 20%
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly Catalyst cohort meetings. 20%
  • Use research and feedback to further develop your venture/venture idea.
Required Qualifications Must have participated in Stage 1 of The Catalyst program. Must be available to attend regularly scheduled cohort meetings, mentoring sessions, and leadership development training as listed above. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Preferred Qualifications Ability to follow through with ideas to completion. Interested in meeting new people and establishing new contacts. Position Requirements During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for
GRA/GTA/GA
appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments). Employment Conditions (1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
