Job Description

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Specialist (PSS) to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in assisted living, memory care, and home settings. The ideal Personal Support Specialist will have experience working with seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. Personal Support Specialist Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide personal care and support to individuals in various settings including retirement homes, group homes, and personal care homes. Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation. Maintain cleanliness in living areas and assist with light housekeeping tasks. Implement behavior management techniques as needed to support residents with developmental disabilities or dementia. Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely when assisting residents with mobility challenges. Drive residents to appointments or community activities as required. Personal Support Specialist Skills PSS certificate is preferred; experience in nursing home or long-term care settings is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with people with disabilities and their families. Ability to perform vital sign checks and understand basic health monitoring techniques. Experience in caregiving roles within home & community care environments or similar settings. Knowledge of cleaning protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for residents. A valid driver's license is preferred for transporting residents when necessary.
