Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy team with enthusiasm and expertise. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering exceptional patient care. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will serve as the primary clinical authority, managing medication dispensing, patient assessments, and pharmacy staff to promote optimal health outcomes. Your energetic leadership will drive continuous improvement in service quality and operational efficiency within a dynamic healthcare environment. Responsibilities Lead and supervise all pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to legal, safety, and quality standards. Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications and IV infusions, with precision and attention to detail. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to support medication therapy management, pain control, and clinical interventions. Manage inventory levels efficiently, including stock replenishment, medication storage, and controlled substance accountability. Utilize pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR) for accurate prescription processing, documentation, and patient record management. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Provide clinical guidance on specialized areas such as LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care, pediatrics, and acute care settings. Facilitate immunizations administration and maintain aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures. Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans and support patient education initiatives. Supervise pharmacy technicians and staff to foster a collaborative team environment focused on outstanding patient service. Requirements Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction. Proven experience in hospital or acute care pharmacy settings; LTC or critical care experience is highly desirable. Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medication administration protocols. Hands-on experience with pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR), inventory management tools, and HIPAA compliance standards. Skilled in compounding medications using aseptic techniques; experience with IV insertion and infusion is preferred. Demonstrated ability in patient assessment, medical management, immunizations, and pain management strategies. Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and interdisciplinary collaboration. Prior pharmacy technician supervision experience; leadership qualities are essential for success in this role.
