Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract An established specialty pharmacy organization is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the launch of a new closed-door pharmacy operation in Pennsylvania. This full-time, onsite position offers a unique leadership opportunity to guide pharmacy operations from the ground up—overseeing licensure, regulatory compliance, inspection readiness, and full operational launch in Lancaster, PA. The Pharmacist-in-Charge will be responsible for establishing and maintaining adherence to all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations, including DEA requirements. This includes developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), supporting pharmacy licensing and inspections, ensuring dispensing accuracy, and leading quality assurance efforts. The role is integral to building the foundation of the pharmacy's operational workflows and compliance programs during its transition from build-out to active dispensing.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as PIC for Pennsylvania pharmacy licensure and ongoing regulatory compliance Lead pharmacy licensing processes, regulatory submissions, and Board of Pharmacy inspection readiness Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs and pharmacy policies Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including DEA standards Support operational setup—workflow design, compliance structure, and quality systems Oversee pharmacy operations post-launch to ensure dispensing accuracy and safety Maintain audit readiness and act as the primary liaison during inspections Collaborate with leadership and operational teams to support launch and scaling efforts Potential assistance with future multi-state licensing expansions
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania Pharmacist license (required) Prior PIC or leadership pharmacy role experience strongly preferred Knowledge of pharmacy operations, compliance, and regulatory requirements Background in specialty, mail order, compounding, or closed-door pharmacy settings is a plus Strong understanding of state Board of Pharmacy and DEA regulations Experience with audits, inspections, or pharmacy startups highly desirable Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
