Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventory, and providing exceptional patient service. Your dedication to accuracy, aseptic techniques, and patient-centered care will ensure optimal health outcomes in fast-paced hospital and LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy settings. Duties Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic compounding. Assist with medication intake, verifying prescriptions, and ensuring proper documentation using medical terminology. Manage medication inventory, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage conditions to maintain medication integrity. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions related to medication administration, usage instructions, and safety protocols. Support critical care and acute care teams by delivering timely medication support in hospital settings with a focus on patient care excellence. Follow strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication workflows, including intake processes and medication reconciliation. Experience Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations and patient care. Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is essential for success in this role. Critical care experience or exposure to acute care settings enhances your ability to thrive in this fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams. Proven ability to manage medication inventory accurately while adhering to safety standards. Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., CPhT) is required or strongly preferred; ongoing education in hospital or LTC pharmacy practices is advantageous.
