2 days per week (school-year position) Position Overview The Part-Time Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate physical education program that promotes students' physical fitness, social-emotional growth, and overall well-being. This role supports the school's mission by fostering teamwork, healthy habits, and a positive attitude toward lifelong physical activity, while integrating Conscious Discipline practices to build a connected, respectful, and self-regulated learning environment. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons aligned with Vermont standards Teach fundamental motor skills, fitness concepts, and a variety of individual and team activities Integrate Conscious Discipline strategies to support self-regulation, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions Model and explicitly teach skills such as empathy, conflict resolution, and emotional awareness during physical activities Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusive participation for all students Ensure a safe environment by maintaining equipment and following safety protocols Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs Assess student progress and provide feedback on skill development and participation Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support whole-child development and consistent use of Conscious Discipline language and practices Supervise students during physical activities and transitions Communicate with families as needed regarding student progress and well-being Uphold school values, routines, and expectations Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field Vermont teaching licensure (or eligibility) in Physical Education Knowledge of child development and best practices in physical education Familiarity with or willingness to learn and implement Conscious Discipline Strong classroom management and communication skills CPR/First Aid certification Preferred Attributes Experience working with elementary-aged students (Pre-K - 6th Grade) Commitment to social-emotional learning and whole-child education Ability to create a positive, structured, and supportive environment using proactive behavior strategies Flexibility and collaboration in a small school setting .
