K-4 Physical Education Teacher Job Description Prescott Valley Charter School Position Summary Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a highly energetic, student-centered K-4 Physical Education Teacher to lead engaging physical education and movement activities that promote health, teamwork, discipline, character development, and lifelong fitness habits in elementary students. This position focuses on creating a structured, positive, and active learning environment aligned with the school's mission and culture. A bachelor's degree is not required for this position; however, candidates must demonstrate successful experience working with elementary-aged students in a school, youth sports, recreation, coaching, camp, or similar child-centered environment. The ideal candidate is highly mobile, enthusiastic, organized, and capable of maintaining strong classroom management and safety expectations while leading large groups of students in both indoor and outdoor settings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and lead daily physical education activities for students in grades K-4. Teach age-appropriate movement skills, games, fitness concepts, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits. Maintain a structured, positive, and safe environment during all PE activities. Supervise students during transitions to and from PE areas. Ensure all students actively participate while maintaining appropriate behavior expectations. Adapt activities to meet varying student abilities and developmental levels. Set up, organize, maintain, and store PE equipment and materials. Monitor student safety continuously during indoor and outdoor activities. Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support school culture and student success. Participate in school events, trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities. Model professionalism, positivity, integrity, and strong character for students. Support and enforce school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations. Maintain appropriate student supervision at all times. Perform other duties as assigned Physical Requirements This is a highly mobile and physically active position.
The employee must regularly:
Walk, stand, run, bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, and move throughout campus for extended periods of time. Actively participate in physical activities and demonstrations with students. Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions. Lift, carry, move, and set up equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Maintain visual supervision of large groups of students across activity spaces. React quickly in emergency or student safety situations. This position is not sedentary. Minimum Qualifications Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school, youth program, coaching, recreation, athletic, childcare, camp, or similar setting required. Ability to manage and engage large groups of students effectively. Strong classroom management and student supervision skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and positive communication with students, staff, and families. Ability to pass all required background checks and fingerprint clearance requirements. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience teaching or leading elementary physical education activities. Experience in youth athletics, coaching, martial arts, dance, fitness, recreation, or related programs. Experience working in a charter school or similarly structured educational environment. Knowledge of child development and elementary behavior management strategies. Work Schedule School-year position following the Prescott Valley Charter School calendar. Additional duties or training may occasionally occur outside regular student hours. Pay:
$32,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
