POSITION SUMMARY
Facilitate learning of curriculum and life skills that contribute to the development of mature, capable, and responsible individuals. To facilitate, plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program to meet the varied needs of all learners. Responsible for curriculum implementation in a variety of formats and the use of technology.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Using the curriculum approved by the Board of Education and district-provided resources, plan daily instruction for all students, including the development of lesson plans, preparation of instructional materials, and design of assessment tools Provide instruction to assigned caseloads/students at designated times and locations, and maintain the ability to move throughout the school environment, including between classrooms and instructional spaces, to support students Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Design and deliver instruction that incorporates differentiation and acceleration to meet varied learner needs and ensure all students make meaningful progress. Maintain high expectations for all students and design learning experiences that engage students in meaning-making, critical thinking, and deep understanding. Facilitate learning by intentionally planning and delivering instruction that incorporates meaningful student engagement, interaction, and feedback to meet individual and group learning needs. Assess student progress using both formative and summative measures, provide students and parents with specific feedback, and use results to inform and adjust instruction as needed Respond to student learning needs by providing additional opportunities for support and extension to ensure all students continue to make progress. Actively engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to analyze student learning, plan responsive instruction, and ensure consistent, high-quality learning experiences for all students. Demonstrate understanding of how subject knowledge is developed, organized, and connected across disciplines and real-life contexts Actively engage in district and building-level professional learning to continuously improve instructional practice and student outcomes. Stay current with development s in their field s and continuously deepen their understanding of the ir discipline s Establish and maintain a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community Manage discipline in accordance with administrative regulations, school board policies, and legal requirements Apply effective behavior management strategies that promote student responsibility, self-control, self-discipline, and effective decision-making in individual and group settings Demonstrate a respectful, cooperative, and caring manner with students and adults in the school community Assume responsibility for the effective functioning of the school, including necessary non-instructional assignments and student management throughout the entire building Participate in departmental and faculty meetings Support student learning by effectively implementing and utilizing a range of district-approved technologies to enhance instruction, engagement, and access to content. Contribute to school effectiveness by collaborating with other professionals and participating in school and district activities Communicate with parents, students, and administrators regarding individual student performance Maintain accurate student grades using appropriate technology systems and according to the district's grading expectations and practices Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations Complete assigned duties within established timelines Support and implement conflict resolution strategies to address and manage conflicts appropriately Supervise students throughout the school day in various settings, including but not limited to passing periods, lunch, and bus duty areas Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing; and efficiently manage communications, and strong time management skills Ability to encourage student ownership of behavior Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds Ability to meet the individual needs of all students and adapt instructional methods accordingly Ability to multitask Ability to problem solve, gather, and analyze information Physical stamina and the ability to physically move throughout the building and classroom, and handle a challenging work schedule Possess interpersonal skills that enable the employee to interact with children, staff, parents, and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner Respect for the uniqueness of each individual learner Social-emotional regulation skills, including self-awareness, emotional self-control, and the ability to remain calm, flexible, and professional when responding to student behaviors, staff interactions, and high-stress situations Sound judgment on sensitive issues Strong interpersonal relations and ability to work with a variety of constituents
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Valid Missouri professional teaching certificate in the grade level range and subject area assigned Minimum of a bachelor's degree with emphasis in an educational subject area Knowledge of the implementation of relevant technology Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position to ensure continuity of learning
