Job Description
Dynamic inpatient, acute care opportunity at New Mexico's only Level 1 trauma center and the state's premier teaching hospital. This is a rotating position within the hospital for all adult ICU and progressive care units. As a member of the UNMH physical therapy team, you will be part of a rehab department encompassing both O.T. and P.T. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of adult acute care units and, if desired, may rotate through the Children's Hospital of N.M. You will work with a group of highly skilled therapists and medical teams. Educational opportunities abound. Many of our therapists also teach in the UNM Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy educational programs. Experience preferred however, new grads are welcome and, if selected, will be supported with a strong mentorship program. Sign-On Bonus Available Relocation Assistance Available Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentials Minimum Offer $ 40.04/hr. Maximum Offer $ 62.00/hr. Rotating Position Summary:
Organize and deliver medically-prescribed physical therapy to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:
PATIENT SAFETY 1
•Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocolsDEVELOPMENT
•Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshopsPATIENT SAFETY 2
•Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3
•Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskCONSULTATION
•Consult with medical staff on patient carePATIENT SAFETY 4
•Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerTRAINING
•Conduct training for medical, nursing and ancillary personnel in therapy techniques and objectives; provide clinical direction through mentoring, planning and implementing staff in-service trainingPATIENT SAFETY 5
•Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"SUPPLIES & EQUIPMENT
