Physical Therapist - Travel Contract

Minimum Requirements Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA. Active Hawaii Physical Therapy license required to start the assignment. Candidates must obtain Hawaii PT license as soon as possible. Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC may be required. Experience across inpatient and outpatient settings. Client requires competency in acute care, ICU, Med/Surg (acute, observation, SNF), ER, and hospital-based outpatient clinic care. Proven ability to manage a mixed caseload of evaluations and treatments, with schedules typically every 30-45 minutes and one-hour new evaluations. Expect to treat between 5 and 15 patients per day. Experience with discharge planning and mobility progression from acute to SNF levels of care. Ability to work independently in a rural setting and adapt treatment approaches for diverse outpatient diagnoses. Ability to work mandatory Saturdays. No exceptions. Previous experience in inpatient, home health, assisted living, skilled nursing facility, long term care, or outpatient settings preferred.

Shift Hours:

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM with a 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM lunch. Flexibility of work hours may occur.

Work Settings:

Mix of inpatient (approximately 25%) and outpatient (approximately 75%). Coverage includes ER, ICU, Med/Surg, SNF-level care, and hospital outpatient clinic.

Caseload:

Combination of inpatients and outpatients with new evaluations and follow-up treatments.

Floating:

Candidate may be required to float to other facility units within the hospital. Location Highlights Waimea, HI offers access to outdoor adventure and island culture within short drives. Waimea is approximately 20-30 minutes from Polihale State Park and 25 minutes from Waimea Canyon State Park, providing hiking and scenic viewpoints. The area offers coastal access to local beaches and waterfronts along the Kauai shore, with opportunities for surfing and fishing within a 30-45 minute drive. Local lifestyle is quiet and rural with a strong outdoor focus, farmers markets, and cultural sites such as historic Waimea town center and nearby botanical gardens within 15-30 minutes. Public transit is limited; most clinicians use personal vehicles for commutes of 10-40 minutes to nearby towns and recreation areas.
