Job Description
Job Summary The Physical Therapist will carry out an individualized program of physical therapy including assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, education, and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Physical Therapist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff. The Registered Occupational Therapist will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients and help patients reach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to the fullest to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities. Position Qualifications Registered Occupational Therapist Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy required. Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required. One year of experience preferred. Physical Therapist Graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) approved physical therapy program. At least one year of experience as a physical therapy aide. Current license from the state Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. PT/OT Clinical experience working with specified client population Previous experience in adult, inpatient setting, preferred. Good knowledge of criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and private insurance coverage. Ability to maintain a high level of emotional tolerance. Good knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries appropriate to age of patient population served. Ability to consistently demonstrate a high level of reliability, accountability, and organizational understanding. Current BLS through the American Heart Association, or completion of BLS training through Generations Behavioral Health's program Must be CPI trained Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical abilities, medical history, and functional limitations to develop tailored care plans. Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy or occupational therapy interventions, including trigger point therapy and orthopedics techniques, to promote healing and mobility. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless patient transitions across care settings. Educate patients and their families on treatment procedures, home exercises, safety protocols, and community resources to support ongoing recovery. Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes within electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Monitor patient responses to therapy, adjusting care plans as needed to optimize outcomes in inpatient, outpatient, or home health environments. Stay current with advancements in physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and physiotherapy practices to deliver high-quality care. Requirements Physical Therapist/Occupational Therapist Responsible for providing services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. Provision of minimum number of billable hours of service as required by facility CEO and/or budget. Assess, diagnose, and treat adults experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries. Documentation reflects PT/OT process, including individualized education and discharge planning needs of client and family. Develop an individualized treatment plan with measurable goals that reflects understanding of treatment process. Record and analyze patient progress. Document services in accordance with hospital policy and requirements. Maximize productivity through proficient use of appropriate technology, including EMR/WellSky, etc. Working Conditions Work is performed in an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting. Work occurs in secured units with continuous patient interaction. Environment may be noisy, fast-paced and emotionally intense. Frequent standing, walking and moving throughout the units for extended periods. Ability to lift, push and or pull up to 20 lbs as needed for patient care. Required to assist in physical interventions or crisis response following hospital policy and CPI training. Regular performance of rounds, safety checks and patient observation.
