Planner I / Senior Planner / Plan Reviewer

The City of Branson, Missouri is seeking qualified candidates for three opportunities within the

Planning & Development Department:

Planner I, Senior Planner, and Plan Reviewer. Branson is a unique community to serve — a tourism destination, regional employment center, full-service city, and growing community where development review, zoning, redevelopment, public meetings, infrastructure, design, construction, code compliance, short-term rentals, and customer service all intersect. These positions offer the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, highly active environment where no two days are exactly the same. The Senior Planner position performs advanced professional planning work and assists with coordination of Planning Division activities, including complex development review, staff reports, public presentations, code amendments, long-range planning, urban design, inspections, and applicant coordination. This role is ideal for an experienced planner who enjoys leadership, project management, public engagement, and helping guide thoughtful development outcomes.

Starting wage:

$60,084.37 The Planner I position performs professional planning work involving development application review, site inspections, applicant assistance, public meeting preparation, legal notices, research, mapping, and customer service. This role is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented and service-minded planner interested in supporting day-to-day development review and public planning processes.

Starting Wage:

$46,049.67 The Plan Reviewer position supports safe, compliant development through review and approval of building and construction plans for compliance with applicable codes and regulations. This role includes interpreting and applying ICC codes, ordinances, and technical standards; communicating review comments to architects, engineers, contractors, and the public; conducting periodic field inspections; and maintaining accurate records related to permitting, inspections, and compliance. The position requires at least five years of building inspection experience with a government organization and three years of plans examiner experience; ICC Building Plans Examiner certification is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
