Job Description
The Plans Review Coordinator is responsible for routing, tracking, and coordination of construction plans submitted to the County for review. This position will monitor the plan review process of reviewers to ensure that all reviews move efficiently through the review process in compliance with Florida State Statutes, adopted codes, ordinances, and policies. Requires knowledge and understanding of the residential and commercial permitting process and contractor licensing regulations.
The following statements describe the principal functions of this job and its scope of responsibility but shall not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including working in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods, or otherwise to balance the workload. Route plans for review to appropriate County departments (Building, Planning, Zoning, Engineering, Fire, Public Works, Utilities, etc.) and external agencies as needed. Runs daily reports to ensure that State mandated deadlines are met by the reviewers and applicants. Track plan review status, deadlines, and approvals using permitting and electronic plan review systems. Compile, coordinate, and distribute consolidated review comments to applicants. Communicate County code requirements, corrections, and approval conditions clearly and professionally. Maintaan accurate records of plans, resubmittals, revisions, approvals, correspondence, and review history. Assist applicants, contractors, architects, and engineers with questions related to the plan review process, timelines, and requirements. Combine and prepare plans and other construction documents for permit issuance. Monitor compliance with adopted building codes (procedural, not interpretive). Coordinate with external agencies (county, state, utilities, special districts) when required. Support process improvements to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer service within the plan review system. Ensure transparency and accountability in accordance with public sector standards. Schedule and facilitate meetings related to plan reviews Assist with resolving review conflicts or delays by coordinating follow-ups with reviewers Receives phone calls and emails regarding plan review processes. Other duties as assigned. Emergency Response County employees are required to report for work during a state of emergency and are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations which may include duties other than those specified in this job description. Employees may request an exemption from this requirement by submitting the appropriate exemption form, subject to review and approval. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited high school or possession ofan acceptable equivalency diploma (GED). Five (5) years experience in a general office setting with emphasis on customer service and familiarization with operations of office equipment and computer terminals. One (1) year experience processing cash transactions. Experience working with pdf files and Bluebeam programs preferred. Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter tailored to the position. Application materials must demonstrate clear, professional written communication skills. A combination of education, training and experience may be substituted at the County's discretion. Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida and be insurable by current insurance carrier, or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle. Must possess or be able to obtain within six (6) months

NIMS/FEMA
certifications: lS-00700.a, ls-00200.a, lS-00100.a. Permit Technician certification from lnternational Code Council (lCC) (preferred) Required Competencies Ability to gain knowledge of and understand various laws and ordinances regulating the issuance of permits and contractor licensing. Ability to convey applicable laws and ordinances to contractors, owners, and the public. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate and interact with customers and co-workers through email, phone, in person, and in writing. Must possess a high level of customer service skills Knowledge of office and departmental policies, procedures and practices. Ability to effectively follow written and oral instructions Ability to identify problems and initiate effective corrective action. Ability to analyze, evaluate and formulate all phases of work center requirements. Must have basic typing and data entry skills. Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires sitting most of the day. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 30 pounds. The job requires frequent bending, twisting, and occasional squatting, climbing, kneeling, and balancing. The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, and typing. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.
