Police Officer

Police Officers in Taft maintain public safety and order. They perform standard law enforcement duties in a community-oriented department that emphasizes integrity, professionalism, compassion, and servant leadership. Patrol designated areas (by vehicle or on foot). Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. Conduct investigations and enforce federal, state, and local laws/ordinances. Aid citizens in need and provide public assistance. Prepare accurate reports and maintain records. Engage in community outreach to build positive relationships with residents.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Basic Peace Officer Certification (or eligibility) from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Valid Texas Driver s License with an acceptable driving record. Must be at least 21 years old and a U.S. Citizen. No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history (meets all TCOLE licensing standards). Knowledge of law enforcement practices, procedures, and equipment. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions under pressure, and handle stressful situations. Proficiency with firearms and other law enforcement tools. Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
