We are seeking dedicated Police Officers to patrol district properties and safeguard the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. Officers are responsible for preventing property loss through proactive measures to deter theft and vandalism.Key Responsibilities:
1. Enforce municipal, county, and state laws within the district's jurisdiction. 2. Assist local law enforcement agencies as needed to ensure a coordinated response to incidents. 3. Perform after-school overtime and on-call duties, including coverage for parades, athletic events, and other district activities. 4. Carry out any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Police.Position Details:
This is an anticipated opening for the 2026-2027 school year, with a start date of July 30, 2026. The position is a contracted 175-day work year. Any hours worked over 40 per week are compensated at time-and-a-half. Officers receive paid summers off, with salary disbursed monthly on the 20th for 12 months. A take-home vehicle is provided for officers who reside within 25 miles of their assigned school, with certain exceptions. •Starting salary varies based on verified TCOLE years of police experience. Law Enforcement 1. Patrol assigned campus(es) and routes walking or driving within district jurisdiction. 2. Respond to all calls from campuses concerning incidents, accidents, and reports of crime. 3. Investigate all criminal offenses that occur within the district's jurisdiction. 4. Collect and preserve evidence for criminal investigations, including witness statements and physical evidence. 5. Arrest perpetrators, file appropriate charges, and ensure placement in jail or juvenile detention centers for law violations as necessary. 6. Write effective legal incident reports. 7. Testify in court as needed. 8. Work cooperatively with other police agencies to share information and provide other assistance. 9. Help provide traffic control at athletic events, school closings or openings, or at any other time. 10. Protect or escort district personnel as needed. 11. Operate all equipment, including firearms, according to established safety procedures. 12. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents required, including affidavits for arrest, incident reports, and activity reports.Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Must possess a current and valid certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), a valid driver s license, and a high school diploma or GED. If claiming a degree, certified college transcripts are required.Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal laws Training and ability to subdue offenders, including the use of firearms and handcuffs Bonded as required by Texas Education Code §37.081(h) The ability to pass a full background check, physical, drug test, psychological exam, and other necessary testing. Ability to work well with youth and adults.Tools/Equipment Used:
District vehicle, firearms, handcuffs, security equipment, two-way radio, alarm system, and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment, including computer, and computer software.Posture:
