Job Description

Shallowater Police Officer The City of Shallowater Police Department is currently accepting applications for an Experienced Police Officer. This officer must have a current TCOLE Peace Officer license in good standing . It is preferred that the applicant has a minimum of five years in Law Enforcement with some of that time as an Investigator. The City prefers that the applicant has an Intermediate TCOLE Certification, a College Degree, or at least some college hours. Applicant must have a Valid Class C Texas drivers license and must pass a background investigation along with a Pre-employment drug screen. The applicant must be willing to work both day and night shifts as required. Salary is dependent on qualifications, experience, and certifications. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Patrol and receives calls for service to help prevent crime
  • Aide citizens needing assistance and arrest violators of the law
  • Enforce traffic laws, monitor school zones
  • Prepare written reports and conduct investigations both misdemeanor and felony
  • Prepare cases for presentation to the District Attorney's office
  • Interview victims, witnesses, seeks, gathers and submits evidence for processing
  • Interrogates suspects and make lawful arrests
  • Testify in Court
  • Respond to emergency calls, routine complaints, disturbances, and takes the appropriate action
  • Investigate traffic accidents and submit crash reports
  • Question victims, complainants, witnesses and suspects and take the appropriate statements.
  • Share information and work with other law enforcement agencies
  • Assist EMS personnel, Fire Dept, Animal Control, Public Works, and other City departments as required
  • Incorporate good community- police relations with citizens and general public
  • Maintain good working environment with supervisors and other employees of the City
  • Other duties as assigned
