Job Description

The Gordon Police Department is looking to hire 2 P.O.S.T certified or uncertified police officers. Our department offers a low call volume, the ability to police the way you choose to, plenty of time to run traffic if that is your thing. We also offer a supportive command staff and opportunities to take training classes that you want too to better yourself and your career. Duties Enforce local, state, and federal laws to ensure public safety and order within the community Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and incidents requiring law enforcement intervention Perform surveillance activities to monitor suspicious behavior or criminal activity effectively Manage conflict situations with professionalism and tact to de-escalate potential threats Provide first aid and CPR when necessary to assist injured individuals until medical help arrives Engage in community outreach programs to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and residents Maintain accurate records through report writing and documentation of daily activities and incidents Operate patrol vehicles responsibly while adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols Assist with animal handling when necessary for lost or stray animals or animal-related incidents Experience Prior experience in law enforcement or military service is highly desirable but not mandatory for uncertified applicants; certification is preferred for certified officers Knowledge of criminal investigation techniques, law enforcement procedures, and legal standards Skills in surveillance operations, conflict management, report writing, and security protocols Ability to handle high-pressure situations with leadership qualities and sound judgment Familiarity with driving law enforcement vehicles safely and efficiently Experience in first aid, CPR certification, animal handling, or immigration law is a plus but not required Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team committed to community safety Join us in making a positive impact through dedicated service! A criminal background check, drug screen, and drivers license history check will be performed. Preference will be given to applicants who are already P.O.S.T. certified as a police officer. Benefits include health insurance for the employee, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and retirement. Pay is $19.64 hourly after probation the pay is increased to $22.58 hourly.
