Education:

Graduation from a standard high school and completion of advanced courses and seminars in various phases of police work; preferably completion of a college degree program in police science, criminal justice, law enforcement or related area.

Experience:

Some experience as a certified police officer and medical responder; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license; Possession of a law enforcement certification awarded by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission; Ability to obtain certification in Police Bike Patrol Techniques, Field Training Officer, K9 Handler, and Radar Operator (as the position may require); valid CPR certification.

Compensation:

Entry-level

• $65,400 Senior Officer
• $68,736 Master Officer
• $72,242 Hiring Range
• up to $72,242 Full Pay Range
• up to $97,372
• Officers may be hired at a probationary salary.
• Must meet the requirements of the Department's Career Development Program for Senior and Master Officer designations.

Recruitment Incentive of $1,000 for each full year of law enforcement experience up to a maximum of 5 years ($5,000). This incentive will be paid as follows: half of the approved incentive will be paid with employee's first paycheck and the remaining amount will be paid upon successful completion of the Town's probationary period.
