Job Description
Post Operative Registered Nurse (PACU-RN) Muskegon, MI 49444 Part-time Part-time Muskegon Surgical Associates, a busy multi-specialty surgical practice, is seeking an individual to join our team as a part-time (54 hours per pay period, 3 days per week, 9 hour shifts) Post Operative RN (PACU). Muskegon Surgical Associates, PC has been providing surgical care to West Michigan since 1972. We are an independently owned multi-specialty practice consisting of 13 surgeons and approximately 120 employees. The ambulatory surgery nurse provides safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This includes assessing patients before surgery, monitoring them during and after surgery, and educating them on post-operative care. Ambulatory surgery nurses also collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth and successful surgical experience for the patient. Additionally, they play a critical role in promoting patient safety, preventing complications, and facilitating a speedy recovery for patients undergoing outpatient surgery.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Care Delivery:
Assures compliance with nursing standards, governmental regulations, and company policies. Provides direct patient care including assessments, plan of care, implementation, and evaluation of patients. Utilizes critical thinking skills to determine the best plan of action. Provides and directs staff in resolving problems and emergencies. Collaborates with health care teams, other departments, or resources to maintain quality customer services. Coordinates and directs team assignments. Promotes quality, integrity, and enhanced communication across the continuum of care.Patient Advocate:
Serve as a liaison, advocate, and educator between the patient, provider, and other healthcare organizations. Facilitates a safe, efficient, therapeutic, and quality environment.Documentation Accuracy:
Documents accurate information utilizing established medical record forms/automated systems.Health and Safety:
Promotes safety for patients, employees, providers, and visitors by following applicable department policies and procedures. Ensure the integrity of the clinical environment by adhering to nursing best practices, OSHA Standards, and HIPAA security and compliance. Provide insights and ideas to improve the safety of MSA and its customers. Ability to work in an environment that has a risk of exposure to hazardous materials, infectious agents, and radiation.Equipment Maintenance:
Knowledge of/or ability to learn and maintain a variety of medical supplies and equipment. Knowledge of surgical instruments.Multidisciplinary Teams:
Work cross-functionally to analyze performance and improve quality, safety, and productivity. Serve as a role model, mentor, and educator, providing direction to team members. Utilize process improvement techniques to improve services, programs, processes and/or organizational effectiveness that create new value for team members and stakeholders.Clinical Competence:
Contribute to quality care provision through performance improvement techniques that show positive outcomes in patient care. Ability to sustain competency in multi-specialty organizations. Perform and create independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards. Utilize appropriate teaching methods to educate pa tients, families, and staff. Participate in developing, introducing, and facilitating changes to meet MSA mission, vision, and goals. Capable of identifying patient problems by physical exam and Ability react calmly, effectively, and professionally stressful situations. Ability to interpret testing results and determine plan of action.Training and Development:
Self-manage requirements for professional licensure or certification and ensure annual compliance. Pursue ongoing personal development and lifelong learning. Familiar with Association of Perioperative Nurse (AORN), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) and American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN). Sustains the Physical Demands of theJob:
This position requires corrected or normal vision and hearing to normal range. Must have manual dexterity and fine motor skills Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye coordi nation. Requires standing, sitting, kneeling, and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and lead. Requires frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood or body fluid, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a surgical operating room or procedural environment.MSA Team Member:

Familiar with all forms and documents used in the operating room, the recovery room and patient's chart. Complete and maintain the medical records and verify information and orders, and post operative. Understand the duties and functions of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, nursing, scrub technologist, and the support staff within the organization. Know the name, use and location of medications, supplies and equipment used in the operating room, recovery room, the instrument processing areas and storage. Handle and dispose of Biomedical Waste according to policies and procedures. Identify, process, and send specimens to the lab. Educate patients and family about diagnostic procedures, surgical procedures, preoperative and post-operative instructions, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness. Communicate and interpret physician instructions to patients and health care agencies. Coordinate patient care activities for the operating room and recovery room. Assist in maintaining quality control records. Inventory stock, medications, and ordering supplies. Perform controlled drug counts. Have an accurate understanding of sedation medications, their use and dosage, and the means to reverse the overly sedated patient. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Perform related work as required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
