Job Description The Water Power Deployment and Commercialization group within the Energy Conversion and Storage Systems (ECaSS) Center works on alleviating market barriers and enabling commercialization for marine energy and hydropower systems. Staff in Water Power Deployment and Commercialization have broad expertise in policy and regulatory analysis, STEM and workforce development, stakeholder engagement, and industry network development. The Water Power Deployment and Commercialization group is looking for intern(s) to support research and analysis in both hydropower and marine energy commercialization efforts.
The position will assist with:
Conducting research to better understand the benefits and lessons learned for state-level planning and policies impacting marine energy and hydropower deployments in the U.S. Analyzing existing and evolving state goals that have the potential to impact marine energy and hydropower deployment timelines. Qualitative and quantitative assessments on investor interest in marine energy. Data management to improve technology licensing. Hydropower stakeholder interviews and component cost data collection and analysis. Contributing to report writing and presentation development summarizing project progress and results. Specific job duties are expected to include: Data collection and literature review to capture relevant policies, investment trends, and business development needs as relevant to marine energy. Stakeholder discovery and outreach for data collection. Evaluation of market drivers and investor interest in marine energy technologies. Contribute to the writing and publishing of research results in technical reports, academic journals, and conference proceedings. Contribute to presentations summarizing work completed. . Basic Qualifications Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Undergraduate:
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor's degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Undergraduate:
Earned a bachelor's degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year.
Graduate:
Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a master's degree program from an accredited institution.
Post Graduate:
Earned a master's degree within the past 12 months. Eligible for an internship period of up to one year. Graduate +
PhD:
Completed master's degree and enrolled as PhD student from an accredited institution.

Stakeholder engagement experience and interest. Excitement about new technology market development, technology adoption, and funding mechanisms. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate(s) would possess at least some of the following preferred qualifications: Very good technical writing skills Works well independently and on teams Some knowledge of and experience in the following: Local energy generation technologies (solar, wind, hydropower, hydrogen, etc.) Data collection and analysis Writing technical reports or journal articles for publication .
