Powerplant and Mechanical Systems Engineer at Reach Aviation, Inc. in Priest River, Idaho, United States Job Description Role Summary Provide engineering for the design, installation and support of new and modified powerplant and mechanical systems. Assist in preparing certification reports. Provide technical support for Customer Service, Production, Purchasing and Legal departments. Key Responsibilities Produce installation layouts, component designs, solid models, drawings, engineering orders (EOs) and specifications to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification and Company standards Evaluate material specifications (metals, rubbers, plastics, greases, etc) to determine correct use of material for the design application, operating environment, and system performance requirements. Troubleshoot production issues that arise during aircraft build, system checkout procedures, and flight testing to determine the best corrective action with consideration to system functionality, cost, and schedule. Prepare engineering data for FAA certification such as specifications, test plans, substantiation reports, and design configuration documents Coordinate projects with various departments and incorporate feedback to ensure new or revised designs satisfy all company and FAA requirements. Train and assist other employees, effectively partnering and collaborating on department and cross-functional organizational initiatives. Review and validate installations and components through simulation, analysis, and test data interpretation Support production and/or experimental hangar personnel in the troubleshooting of assembly and operational problems
