RESPONSIBILITIES

This position serves as a Nursing Instructor with a strong emphasis on simulation?based education, responsible for teaching and facilitating nursing courses in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings. The instructor supports student learning through curriculum development, assessment of student performance, academic advising, and retention efforts, while maintaining current nursing practice and professional credentials. The role includes active participation in accreditation and college initiatives, collaboration with healthcare and industry partners, and contribution to high?quality, experiential learning environments that prepare students for contemporary nursing practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Education Requirement Bachelor's degree in nursing or a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing if the graduate degree is not in Nursing. A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty. Occupational Experience Requirement Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level. As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach. Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years. Professional Requirement Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.

Other Requirement:

Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.

Preferred:

Master's degree in nursing or commitment to complete MSN within 3 years of hire. Recent experience in medical-surgical and OB/MCH/Peds Nursing simulation experience Experience in teaching or training in nursing Broad spectrum of nursing experience Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills Demonstrated computer software proficiency Commitment to excellence in working with students How is Faculty Salary Determined? Per the MSCF contract, each new faculty member's education and experience will determine how they are credentialed and where they are placed on the salary schedule. The Campus HR office is not able to guarantee an annual salary for faculty, therefore, when a new faculty accepts the job offer, they do so understanding that, initially, they will be placed at the minimum salary for that position. After a new faculty is hired, they have the opportunity to submit their education and verified work experience forms through their online employee profile, which is then received by the System Office, who makes the determination of their salary. Understand that each new faculty, no matter their education or experience, needs to abide by the Initial Salary Placement rules that prevent them from exceeding a certain pay step in each column on the salary schedule.
