Job Description

Job description: The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, loving, and Christ-centered learning environment for young children. This role helps nurture each child's spiritual, social, emotional, and academic development while modeling Christian values in daily interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the Director of Children's Ministries, Lead Teacher, and (other) Assistant Teacher(s) in overseeing the basic day-to-day operations and logistics of the program Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons, including Bible stories, prayer, and faith-based activities Help in safety and supervision of walking with children during vehicle drop-off and pick-up Supervise children during play, learning activities, and outings or field trips Support children's social, emotional, physical, spiritual development and academic skills Support effective classroom management and behaviors as dictated by the Lead Teacher Prepare materials and assist with classroom setup and transitions Help children with basic needs (handwashing, toileting, snacks, etc.) Communicate respectfully with parents, staff, and church leadership Assist in conducting assessments for the students at the beginning of the year (baseline assessment) and in the spring (progress assessment) Assist in conferences with parents/guardians to discuss results of assessments and how to help each student flourish Provide assistance in the planning and execution of seasonal and traditional Kiddie Kampus events for family engagement and enrichment as part of the school day or extra-curricular Report any concerns to Lead Teacher (or Director of Children's Ministries) as needed on issues of safety, behavior, or welfare related to the facility, students, operations, or other personnel. Contribute uniquely to the overall quality of instruction and education experience based on personal gifts, strengths, skills, and abilities (i.e. crafts, music, PE, math, science, language arts, dramatic play, decoration, etc)
Spiritual Expectations:
Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Christian faith Model Christ-like behavior in interactions with children, families, and staff Support the mission and values of the church Be comfortable leading or assisting with simple prayers and Bible-based discussions
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required) Early Childhood Education coursework or CDA (preferred) Passion and experience working with preschool-aged children Warm and friendly attitude; ability to work with a team and creatively collaborate with others
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50-60 pounds Ability to actively engage with children throughout the day (standing, kneeling, etc.)
Work Environment:
In-person Church preschool classroom setting Regular interaction with children, staff, and families Outdoor supervision at times (weather permitting)

We are a family-oriented, close-knit organization. Kiddie Kampus has served the local community for nearly 60 years and is an important weekday ministry of Pierce Church. While there are limited benefits available through this position, we are able to offer a convenient working schedule that also parallels typical school breaks and seasonal time off.
