AUXILIARY TEACHER PREK
•2ND
GRADE JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE
Auxiliary Teacher PreK•2nd Grade
SUPERVISES
Directly supervises students assigned to his/her class.
JOB GOAL
To create a flexible Pre-K program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a high school diploma or GED Must possess a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least nine credit hours of college coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.

School Principal/Director SALARY:
To be determined commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves as an assistant in an identified instructional program observing the same hours as the classroom teachers; being prompt, dependable and regular in attendance. 2. Attends all school staff meetings. 3. Participates in professional development pertinent to duties assigned by the principal/director, and lead teacher. 4. Works cooperatively with teachers, staff administrators, and school stakeholders. 5. Assist with the supervision of students while promoting activities to enhance their social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. 6. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of the teacher. 7. Uses correct grammar when communicating orally and/or in writing. 8. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.
ASSISTS TEACHER IN
1. Preparing instructional materials to be used in the program. 2. Assisting in arranging the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on the bulletin board and arranging center areas. 3. Administering and scoring appropriate screening and assessments required by the program 4. Working with individual students or small groups as assigned by the teacher. 5. Establishing and maintaining high standards of student behavior consistent with district and school policies. 6. Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities. 7. Developing and maintaining a family-style atmosphere during mealtime. 8. Supervising the students throughout the day. 9. Completing record keeping tasks assigned by the teacher. 10. Riding the school bus as needed to monitor and assist with the safe transportation of assigned children. 11. Performing other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal/director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Length of contract and salary will be established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Professional Personnel.
