- June Employment Type Full Time Job Summary Job Summary Desert Christian Academy Preschool is seeking passionate Christian early educators who are enthusiastic about facilitating a learning environment that allows their students to thrive and grow.
Essential Elements:
Print General responsibilities Teachers are responsible for the spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth and development of all children in their care, and develop partnerships with parents/caregivers to engage and encourage family participation in the program. Teachers are also responsible for assuring compliance with the standards and regulations of Desert Christian Academy, Community Care Licensing (CCL) and the Association of Christian School International (ACSI). They ensure communication flows back and forth between the co-teachers and assistant/substitute teachers and maintains appropriate records, resources, reports and files. Accountability Teachers are accountable to the Preschool Director(s) as well as the DCA Administrators. Teachers may delegate specific duties to aides, floating teachers (i.e. the prep time floater) and/or and substitutes as appropriate; however, the responsibilities for the duties remain with the teacher. Expectations Teachers are expected to create and maintain a loving, engaging learning environment for the children. They are expected to follow and maintain the standards and regulations of DCA, CCL and ACSI. Teachers are expected to lead by example, set the spiritual tone of the classroom and work closely with other staff and families. Qualifications/Attributes/Education Needed 18 years of age with Early Child Development knowledge and experience. Meets the state's requirements for a "fully-qualified" teacher which includes, passing grades in 12 units in ECD, 6 months experience in an early education environment under the supervision of a teacher or director. An associate's degree in Early Education (preferred). Shows initiative, is self-directed and is an effective communicator that possesses an ability to interact well with parents, peers, and administrative staff. Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities. Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being. Must be able to manage confidential information. Physical Qualifications Is able to observe, hear, and respond with decisive action to the needs of children, emergencies, or conflicts that might occur on the grounds or within the center Works in a fast pace setting using current technologies. Is able to lift children weighing up to 50 lbs from the floor to waist high a minimum of 10-15 x/day. Is able to crouch to a child's height and maintain eye contact at a child's level. Stand tall enough to reach children on play equipment. Is able to sit on the floor or child sized seating. Appropriately manages the stress and tension of daily contact with guests and staff. Comprehends and communicates orally and in writing using the English language. Is able to lift and move portable classroom supplies and equipment. Is able to consistently work scheduled hours. Everyday Duties Develops weekly plans, and implements the curriculum (lesson plan) using developmentally appropriate practices to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care. Observe the children's skill levels and abilities daily in order to inform lesson planning and implementation that meets the individual needs of each child. Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily caregiving approaches to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group. Prepare assessments by documenting student observations in Brightwheel. Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for the child's background by incorporating the cultural, linguistic and familial values however and whenever possible. Develop a trusting and meaningful relationship with parents/caregivers so there can be open and honest communication between home and school. Though parents' roles at school may be limited, they should always feel welcome. Conduct parent conferences to discuss children's developmental progress, needs, and interests. Provide care that meets the physical needs of children (wipe noses, clean wounds, assist with potties, etc) Provide a healthy, safe, clean and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for children. Communicate effectively with co-teacher and substitutes so all matters concerning the classroom and students are understood by all. Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to the director(s) in a timely manner. Participate in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities. Fourteen hours of Professional Development are required every year. Participate in training, events, and fundraisers required by DCA. Follow timekeeping policies to ensure overtime is not acquired unless it has been approved by the director(s). Become familiar with the current curriculum and use it as a guide to teach the foundational academics, appropriate for your group's age and ability. Shared Responsibilities for all staff members Spend time learning God's word together, praying for the families and fellow staff members. Treat all children with dignity and respect- make more deposits that withdrawals from children's "emotional banks".
Qualifications Preferred:
Associates in Early Childhood Education/Early Child Development; a Child Development Teacher permit; or a CDA Credential with preschool age level endorsement.Required:
1) 12 completed units in ECE/ECD. Courses taken should include Child Growth & Dev, Child Family & Community, and Curriculum. 2) 150 hours of supervised experience working in a licensed child care center. Transcripts reflecting the completed ECE units and/or degree or permit obtained. Upon hire,- fingerprinting. Cost paid by the employee
- health Screening by the employees, primary care physician
- documentation of vaccines: MMR, TDaP (within last 10 years), flu (may opt out of flu shot).
Qualifications Preferred:
Associates in Early Childhood Education/Early Child Development; a Child Development Teacher permit; or a CDA Credential with preschool age level endorsement.Required:
