Primary Purpose:
Assist the teacher in implementing classroom activities and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for preschool students. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, support daily routines, documentation, and communication to ensure compliance with district standards.
Qualifications:
Education Must meet one of the following requirements High school graduate or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, and the ability to pass a locally approved paraprofessional academic assessment; or Completion of 48 semester hours of college credit; or Associate degree or higher Certification Current Texas Educational Aide certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire Experience Must be 18 years of age or older Experience working with children, preferably in a childcare, preschool, or early learning environment Knowledge and Skills Ability to work effectively and patiently with young children in both individual and group settings Proficient organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Support the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or student assignments. Help maintain a neat, orderly, and engaging classroom environment. Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment. Support teacher in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports. Provide instructional and classroom support to multiple teachers or students as assigned, which may include rotating between classrooms. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Student Management Conduct instructional activities the teacher assigns, working with individual students or small groups. Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom (e.g., lunchroom, bus, and playground duty). Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher promptly and appropriately. Assist students with personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene).
Additional Responsibilities:
Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned. Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
